Our Mission: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Our Vision: The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope; our communities are ready and prepared for disasters; everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and in an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.

Our Chapter: The American Red Cross of Western Colorado serves the western third of the state, including the following counties: Alamosa, Archuleta, Conejos, Costilla, Delta, Dolores, Eagle, Garfield, Grand, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Jackson, La Plata, Mesa, Mineral, Moffat, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, Pitkin, Rio Blanco, Rio Grande, Routt, Saguache, San Juan, San Miguel and Summit. We are active in various ways locally, responding to both individual disasters, as well as large scale disasters. We provide a variety of disaster preparedness classes as well. We are working with the Western Mountain COAD that covers the Roaring Fork Valley to build our local sheltering team. Please check our individual opportunities for upcoming trainings in the area!

Our Departments: We offer a wide variety of opportunities to serve in every community. While most know us for our work with disasters, we do have multiple departments including Services to the Armed Forces, Volunteer Services, Communications, Fund Development, Business Operations, Executive Management, and of course Disaster Cycle Services.
